Bob has a degree from Oregon State University.

In 1991 he began as a vineyard manager for Mesa Vineyard Management in Santa Barbara County.

In 2003 he moved to San Luis Obispo County as a vineyard manager for Castoro Vineyard, where he converted all of their acres to certified organic and certified SIP.
