Molly Lonborg, a 2009 graduate with a B.S. in Earth Sciences focused on Wine and Viticulture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, discovered her professional calling in winemaking despite initial studies in geology during her travels and time at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. Her winemaking journey began at Baileyana in the Edna Valley near San Luis Obispo, followed by further cellar experience at Justin Winery in Paso Robles. Joining Halter Ranch in mid-2011, she rapidly advanced from Lab Manager and Cellar Assistant to the position of Associate Winemaker by early 2018.
In December 2019, Molly was honored as Winemaker of the month by Wine Business Monthly. By March 2020, she assumed the role of winemaker at Alta Colina in Paso Robles, succeeding founder Bob Tillman. Alta Colina is renowned for its Rhône varietals, and Molly also owns her wine brand, Little Soul, specializing in Rose and Carbonic Pinot Noir. Residing in Paso Robles with her husband, Jordan Lonborg, and their children, Alma and Ziggy, Molly’s diverse interests span beyond wine to encompass camping, hiking, traveling, and a passion for live music.
